ABSTRACT

Such a question, however, is clearly inadequate as a basis for thinking about the roles that we urgently need education to play in helping us to equip young people for the full range of potential socio-technical futures that are latent in contemporary developments. It is premised upon a vision of the future that can be seen as increasingly implausible and undesirable, and it fails to address the other more profound challenges that socio-technical change may present us.
