ABSTRACT
Optical microscopes, which require children to look at objects through an eyepiece, present many children with difficulty in focusing. In addition, it is difficult to point out items of interest, as only one person at a time can see the image. Digital microscopes, on the other hand, connect to a computer or use a built-in viewing screen, allowing children to see the magnified image without squinting down an eyepiece. The image can be shared with the teacher or the whole class. There are several brands of digital microscope available on the market, including the Celestron, which is a standalone device with a built-in screen, the Intel QX-3, which only works when plugged directly into the computer via a USB, and the Motic Digiscope, which can be used as a standalone microscope or can be plugged into a computer for the image to be displayed on a screen or interactive whiteboard.
