ABSTRACT

The previous chapter set out the salient points relating to JL123’s flight and ultimate demise. This chapter explores the way in which the crash was responded to. There are three key aspects which this chapter will look at in turn; first, there are the search and rescue (SAR) activities that took place in the immediate aftermath of it becoming clear that JL123 had crashed; second, the investigation into the cause of the crash; and third, issues relating to responsibility.
