ABSTRACT

The EU is undoubtedly facing a time of crisis and its future success and develop-

ment crucially depends on public support by its citizens (Hobolt 2009). Thus,

looking at public opinion towards the EU in the individual member states (and

its considerable variation across countries) as well as its development over time,

and potential impact and implications, merits further investigation. In this light,

Danish public opinion about the EU has always been a particular interesting

case, leaving EU officials and commentators behind with mixed feelings.
