ABSTRACT
Other people’s faces provide us with a wealth of social information. We are highly skilled at recognising the faces of people we know, and we can assess characteristics such as age or sex fairly accurately even when a face is unfamiliar. We are also adept at interpreting facial expressions, and make much use of these in regulating patterns of social interaction.
