ABSTRACT
Psychodrama has been utilized predominantly in the mental health fi eld, so much so that it is widely considered a method of psychotherapy. As Zerka Moreno indicates in the above quote, psychodrama is intrinsically a dramaturgy, a method of creating dramas. Although Moreno fi rst used spontaneity techniques to resolve a marriage problem and later developed the psychodramatic method with patients in his sanitarium, he was always mindful of the many other potential applications of psychodrama. In particular, he thought of psychodrama as a method for normal, well-functioning people to better understand themselves and their relationships with others, an activity that is sometimes referred to as personal growth and development.
