ABSTRACT

So far the direct climatic effects of global warming have predominantly been discussed. The only indirect effect covered was sea level change. The results predicted by the climate models are used in a variety of ways to try and assess the level of impact on human society and on the biosphere. Chapter 4 has already discussed how past climate changes has affected humans but how susceptible is our present society to climate change? Has our technology made us impervious to change or are we more sensitive now to the stresses and strains that may be caused by global warming?
