ABSTRACT

While we have found the models approach very helpful as a guide to conceptualization and intervention in psychotherapy, there are other areas of clinical psychology in which we have speculated that the approach might prove useful. We acknowledge that the ideas proposed here are not fully developed and are speculative. Nonetheless, we feel this approach can aid progress in three areas: psychological diagnosis, clinical research, and clinical training. It is our hope that others will find these notions stimulating.
