ABSTRACT
The patient's ability to think coherently is reduced, and thinking becomes disorganized, slowed, or accelerated. Often, the patient is unable to reason or problem-solve. Paranoid delusions of transient and poorly systematized nature may occur. Memory disturbances involve inability to register new information and impairment of recent recall of events that occurred before the onset of delirium (Lipowski, 1980b).
