ABSTRACT
Chapter 1 has helped us to understand that the impact of culture is immense, either despite or because of the force of globalization. One of the main reasons why we have formed so many local cultures is because we need diversity to recognize our own ingroup and, thus, who we can trust. That’s the “why” question. In this chapter, we will deal with the “what” questions: What is culture? And what are the factors that make us so similar, yet so different from one another?
