ABSTRACT

In preceding chapters, attention was drawn to the lack of agreement regarding classification of research designs as well as the lack of consensus about terminology used to refer to what are essentially the same types of designs. It will be recalled that we expressed a preference for three broad classes of designs: experimental, quasi-experimental, and nonexperimental. Chapters 12 and 13 respectively dealt with experimental and quasi-experimental designs. The present chapter is addressed to nonexperimental designs.
