ABSTRACT
The preceding chapter focused on issues concerning prediction of a criterion by resorting to information from one or more predictors. It was pointed out that whereas theoretical considerations are by no means irrelevant to such investigations, they do not playa central role in them. The perspective changes drastically when we tum to construct validation, as the definition and meaning of a construct emanate from the theoretical network in which it is embedded.
