ABSTRACT
We may consider performance under the two headings, what to perform, and how to perform. The point of what to perform is by no means a simple one, as the choice of music has a very great deal to do with the success of the performance, and we have to fit in with three requirements; the music must suit ourselves, it must suit the audience, and it must be fitting to the occasion. It is by no means easy to satisfy these three at once.
