ABSTRACT

Dave Springhall came to prominence as a youthful activist in 1923 when he was co-opted, as one of the younger CPGB members, to join the YCL's National Council, but by then he had been dismissed from the Royal Navy for causing dissent. In 1924 he had been a delegate at the Communist International in Moscow, and during the 1926 General Strike had been convicted of possession of seditious material. A year later he had been in Moscow, attending a course at the Lenin School.
