ABSTRACT

In 1982 when Irena Klepfisz first attributed the passage from "Notes of an Immigrant Daughter, Atlanta" to Melanie Kaye,1 permission had been granted by Nice Jewish Girls: A Lesbian Anthology.2 In 1984, when the second edition of Nice Jewish Girls was published, some but not all pieces previously attributed to Melanie Kaye were reattributed to Melanie KayelKantrowitz, but, all the permissions to publish these works were still attributed to Melanie Kaye. 3 When the third edition of Nice Jewish Girls was published in 1989, however, all remaining references to Melanie Kaye were changed to Melanie KayelKantrowitz.4
