Leadership in crisis

Across many countries there is, or soon will be, a shortage of head teachers and principals. In the USA, a shortage of highly qualified principal candidates has been reported by school districts across the nation. In some parts of the country 60 per cent of principals will retire, resign or otherwise leave their positions during the next five years (Peterson, 2002:815).
