ABSTRACT
There are two related spines running through the middle of this book: generational discourses and generation-as-discourse. The last chapter set generation-as-discourse aside temporarily, focusing in on two questions: why do generational discourses exist, and what are their consequences? In this chapter, generation-as-discourse is subjected to the same questions: why does generation-as-discourse exist in the form(s) fi rst introduced in Chapter 3? And what are the consequences of these discursive usages of generation?
