ABSTRACT

As the word suggests, imagination is concerned with the formation of images or representations in the mind. In its simplest forms imagination consists in the revival in memory of past sensations or percepts. Such memory images, or certain details in them, can be combined in various new ways, leading to the play of fancy, or imagination, in the popular sense of the word. When the process of combining memory images in new ways is guided by intent we reach the stage of constructive imagination.
