ABSTRACT

In institutionalized spaces such as universities, initiating and sustaining change are notably difficult and problematic. Although visible masculinist practices and beliefs predetermine ‘the way things are’, securing change is not impossible. On the institutional margins and in the less visible spaces women can quietly mobilize, bide their time and move about seemingly unnoticed. It is in these spaces in between where the potential for change lies. This chapter draws together the various themes in this book and cements the view that women are not powerless. I present the possibility of thinking about leadership from an Indigenous perspective and provoke readers to imagine how leadership might be reframed.
