ABSTRACT
In the last chapter, we discussed the use of the internet as resource and focus of online course assignments. Instructional use of the internet has been greatly enhanced in recent years by the growth of open educational resources (OER). OERs by their very nature permit instructors to freely use, adapt, or even add to and remix their content. However, many other potential materials that you may want to include in your courses are those governed by copyright and fair use laws. Finally, instructors who create their own content may be concerned with the issue of intellectual property. This chapter deals with these three related issues of import to the online instructor. Copyright and fair use and intellectual property are but two sides of the same coin.
