ABSTRACT
Appraisal can be used to foster school, department/team and individual needs. Above all, it provides a means of harmonising these needs and of sorting out priorities. Furthermore, it provides an opportunity for individual needs to be placed on the agenda alongside the school needs set out in a school development plan.
