ABSTRACT

Eaker, Ira Clarence (1896–1987) U.S. Air Force general. Eaker graduated from Southwestern State Teachers College in Oklahoma (1917) and was commissioned in the infantry when the U.S. entered World War I (April 1917). He transferred to the Aviation Section of the Signal Corps and became a pilot (1918). Following a tour in the Philippines (1919–22), he served in the office of the chief of the Air Service (1924–26).
