ABSTRACT
Suzanne Beckett died on 17th of April 1989; although their marriage had not been a particularly easy one, Beckett grieved for her. He did not outlive her long. He collapsed once more on the 6th of November 1989; on the 8th he was admitted to a neurological unit, after the initial tests for a suspected heart-attack had proved negative. Over the next few weeks he gradually drifted further and further into a coma, dying at 1pm on the 22nd of December.
