ABSTRACT

Earth First! is a powerful example of the globalised nature of modern environmental protest, with groups not only in the US, UK and Australia but in a fourcontinent matrix of sympathetic networks. While traditional conservation groups, green political parties and environmental SMOs have sought to build sister organisations on a planetary basis (Parkin 1989), EF! (UK)'s international links illustrate how loosely co-ordinated radicals as well as such formal bodies use and extend global links.
