Using a single painting as a starting point for cross-curricular learning

This chapter focuses on a scheme called Take One Picture, a nationwide project for primary schools run by the National Gallery. Centred around the simple idea of using a single work of art as a starting point for teaching and learning across the curriculum, each year the gallery challenges primary schools to focus on a featured painting from the collection. The purpose is to promote the visual arts within education and to provide teachers with quality teaching resources and a platform for sharing ideas.
