ABSTRACT
Introduction: Encounter, Converge, and Embrace Architecture’s four historical encounters with complexity are situated within our current and emerging postindustrial context by a corresponding set of overlapping convergences: four fundamental evolutions we experience in postindustrial society as technical, societal, economic, and environmental forces that impact architecture. Those four convergences into complexity are the subject of this chapter.
