ABSTRACT
This chapter is not intended as a complete guide to working with families where drugs or alcohol are a problem. Specialist training can provide specific information about the effects of different drugs. It can also enhance skills in working with drug-abusing adults, and collaborating with other professionals involved with substance misusers. The aim of this chapter is to present an overview of research-based knowledge about intervening in families with children where alcohol or other drugs are a problem.
