ABSTRACT
We now pass on to the doctrinal framework, that is to say the ideas held by both Christian and Jewish theologians on the Jewish money trade. An examination of these ideas, which mainly reflect the social conditions, will supply a few preliminary glimpses of this situation. But one comment must be made at the outset, or rather one warning formulated, about the way the texts should be read in order to avoid the errors made by generations of historians.
