ABSTRACT

Clearly, much has changed from the halcyon days of the immediate postwar years. The business environment in which fi rms operate has been transformed signifi cantly in the last few decades. The factors that have contributed most strongly to this new context are globalization; several economic crises; the continuing geopolitical problem of global poverty; increased global environmental degradation; and, accompanying this, the emergence of environmental awareness among the general public and, as a consequence, government at all levels from municipal to federal.
