ABSTRACT

It was in this second phase of Communist Party history that a systema--

tic attempt was made to build Women's Sections along the lines of the

1921 Resolution, Communist Work Among Women passed at the Third

Congress of the Communist International. My research has led me to

take the view that there was a serious discrepancy between the official

position and the manner in which the party membership interpreted the

purpose and function of Women's Sections.
