ABSTRACT
Minamoto no Ieyasu was the son of Zo¯-dainagon Hirosada. His mother, Dentsu¯- in den, was the daughter of Mizuno Uemonnodayu¯ Tadamasa.1 He traced his descent from Seiwa tenno¯, the 56th dairi. Before he mounted the throne, he was prince of Okazaki.
