ABSTRACT

Much of the discussion about events and the environment has tended to focus on event outputs and how these impact on the environment. Equally important, however, is the environmental input into the event industry. This takes several forms:

• the natural environment as a venue for events to take place; • the built environment, notably towns and cities, and their potential as event

venues; • environmental constraints on events such as the weather; and • the environment as a supplier of products in events – the supply chain and its

limitations.
