ABSTRACT

Attention-de cit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a chronic neurobehavioral disorder characterized by developmentally inappropriate levels of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity that negatively affect a child’s functioning across situations. ADHD has a vast literature base, a subset of which discusses issues surrounding the preschool population (ages 3-6 years). Few professionals today would deny that diagnosable behavior disorders, such as ADHD, can occur during the preschool years, and scienti c evidence of the validity of preschool ADHD exists (Egger, Kondo, Angold, 2006; Scheeringa & Task Force on Research Diagnostic Criteria, 2003; Sonuga-Barke, Thompson, Abikoff, Klein, & Brotman, 2006).
