ABSTRACT
This chapter will describe Phase 3 of the project which concerned the gathering and coding of data related to the style and content of classroom discourse for each of the four teachers involved in the main phase of the project. It focused specifically on a single data handling lesson, as an exemplar, for each teacher. The intention was to provide a category system which could be used to analyse the teacher and pupil interactions over children's first year at school in Phase 4.
