ABSTRACT
A rather different approach, encouraging drug users to employ safer injecting techniques can be seen in the work o f some of the specialist voluntary and statutory agencies serving this population. Thus, an unknown artist produced a poster entitled 'The Drug Scene' which shows, in cartoon form, a Punk user called 'Hyjean' wearing a T-shirt w i th the message 'Clean your works', some evil-looking D i r ty Works, a small bag o f clearly intoxicated 'smack' and finally a one-eyed, fanged virus w i th jagged edges called AIDS.
