Family, Talk, and Culture

This book is about patterns of language use at dinner in native and non-native Israeli and Jewish American families. The examination of dinner table conversations has provided insights into the specific nature of interactional practices at this speech event. Because cultural and social meanings are continually constructed through talk, the findings also point to the relation between language and culture in the wider sociocultural context.
