ABSTRACT
Protective services for children are available in every state. These agencies are designed to receive reports of child abuse and neglect from professionals and others. After receiving an allegation of child maltreatment, if warranted, protective services conducts an investigation. The primary focus of protective services is to identity services needed by families and children if an allegation of child maltreatment is substantiated.
