ABSTRACT

I have decided to write this life story, rather than speaking it onto a tape [as suggested by M . Sussman], I am basically a writer and prefer to read than to hear. The second decision is not to write it in one fell swoop-life is so complicated and memory so dependent upon current construction of reality that a single stretch at this computer (this marvelous invention) would tend to flatten life unavoidably into limited themes. Coming here to write after different situational experiences wil l help broaden my ability to express my different selves (obviously, the symbolic interactionist nature of my thought has come out). I wil l also allow myself to use indications or symbols of sub-thoughts ( ) and variations-, even unfinished sentences. As Dick, my husband, points out, I have a habit of unfinished sentences as I wander off to new ideas. So here goes.
