The activity of costing How costing is done and which elements within a system are costed will be determined very largely by the reasons for which the costing exercise is being undertaken. It is absolutely crucial that those undertaking the exercise identify their audience and the questions to which they need to provide answers. This will affect the technical cost content, the format and the presentation of the study.
