ABSTRACT
ONE of the results of the war was the wholesale exodus of gamekeepers to serve their country, and as a consequence the balance of nature began to reassert itself. Vermin of all kinds increased and as vermin increased game decreased, until in many districts there was more vermin than game. On the return of peace it was realised that organised efforts would be required to deal with the situation, and in several districts in Scotland Vermin Clubs were established with a view to combined action against the common enemy.
