ABSTRACT
The unfolding of the twentieth century witnessed the first exploitation of oil discovery in the Persian Gulf area. The British at that time had absolute hegemony over the area and were more determined than before to prevent the French, the Russians, the Germans, and even the Americans from getting a foothold in the Gulf.
