ABSTRACT

In Latin America, due to the work of Paulo Freire, consideration of ‘popular education’ techniques is perhaps more advanced than elsewhere, and numerous methods including drama and participatory workshops have evolved (Freire 1972). In health education particularly, many of these techniques are increasingly widely used. However, in much technical education the predominant methods of dissemination remain the traditional ones of the training course and the booklet. While it is hard to generalize about training courses, certain recurring problems may be identified concerning booklets.
