ABSTRACT

LUCIA: One of the things that I think is wonderful about the history of sandplay is that before Dora Kalff and sandplay, as I understand it, Jungian psychology was applicable only to adults. And the story that I heard-and I love these stories because nobody can say they’re not true-is that Jung-Carl and Emmaconferred with Dora when she finished her course of education and said, “You are so gifted with children. Can Jungian psychology apply also to children?” She then went to the Lowenfeld Clinic in London and started to observe children. As she observed their play, she found that the individuation process could be seen in the sand. This is the story I heard. No?
