ABSTRACT
Over the last two decades we have seen a considerable increase in the amount of literature which has been published. Leisure and tourism is an area which has seen major growth. A number of factors have contributed to this and they include the demand for academics to raise their research profile, external competition and new legislation. Literature appears in many different forms - as books, journal articles, annual reports, government material, conference proceedings, dissertations and theses. Keeping up to date with what has been published and when is a difficult task. There are, however, a variety of ways of doing this. The aim of this chapter is to introduce you to abstracting and indexing journals and bibliographies, the use of which will enable you to do just this - keep up to date with published information quickly and efficiently.
