ABSTRACT

Empowerment has become such a buzz word in corporate America today that for some it has become a turnoff! Not so for us. We began by enumerating the forces changing the workplace, and will close by looking at empowerment and the worldwide efforts to renew organizational culture for productivity and service in response to the challenges of diversity and the global economy. When fewer workers must do more with limited resources and in less time, it is clear that they are the key to organizational success. The transcultural leader manages diversity by enabling individuals and teams to take responsibility for productive work in the context of a clearly defined vision. This leads to competence and empowers people to contribute at their highest skill levels.
