ABSTRACT

Multinational companies now face a challenge of transformation that will alter the way the world occurs: the challenge of managing a sustainable environment. Environmental factors increasingly underlie all business activity. Whether companies choose to deal with this challenge is not the question; not choosing will produce its own set of results. The results with which we are concerned here are those of shareholder value creation or destruction. Environmental sustainability is first a business proposition and second a good neighbor policy if it is to succeed at all.
