ABSTRACT
As was noted in Chapter 1, the first major user of video, the television broadcast industry, eagerly sought to convert film to video for broadcasting. Film production techniques were needed to produce better quality programs during the period when color video cameras, videotape recorders, and the editing of videotape were in their infancy. In addition, large libraries of existing feature films were a ready source of television programming.
