ABSTRACT
The vast majority of pictures, whether taken by amateurs or by professionals, are pictures of people. At home, they will often be of parties and formal occasions such as weddings, or spontaneous pictures of family gatherings, days out, or children playing in the garden. In professional photography, people appear in newspapers and magazines, as part of billboard advertisements, and are portrayed in formal pictures displayed on boardroom walls. Digital cameras are now being used for many of these applications, and bring with them special features and particular areas of concern.
