ABSTRACT

The rapidly decreasing cost of both storage and availability of the out-of-the-box content management and DMAM and CM systems will mean that in the coming few years these systems will be affordable for smaller operations. This chapter aims to help organizations better understand the complexities of implementation and maintenance of these systems and decide between an internal system and an application service provider as the most cost-effective route. One option that is not covered is that of not having a digital asset strategy; it is presumed that every organization in tomorrow’s media supply chain will require various aspects of these technologies.
