Thermal mass – heated by solar and by ground-coupled

The energy flux from the sun falling onto a tiled surface on the floor or a wall provides substantial heating of this surface and this heat is thermally conducted away from this surface deep down into the thermal mass and is stored for later use. This section examines the opportunities of additional heat storage by the amount and distribution of thermal mass below a tiled floor surface.
